What is the "Driver CPC"?

It is the EU legislation requiring the continuous training of all vocational drivers. Driver CPC regulations will apply to new drivers acquiring an LGV licence from 10th September 2009. Those who already hold a vocational licence on this date will be given acquired (grandfather) rights, however all drivers must complete 35 hours periodic training every five years.

Note: a "vocational" driver is any person who drives (or may be called upon to drive) vehicles fitted with tachographs (i.e. >3500Kgs GVW). These vehicle categories include C1, C1+E, C & C+E. This also includes drivers who have gained 7.5 tonne entitlement (cat C1) by passing their car test before 1997.
